As Chairman and CEO of Fremont College, Dr. Sabrina Kay brings an expansive vision to the field of higher education and a deep understanding of the profound difference education can make in students’ lives. Armed with an outstanding management team, Sabrina’s goal is to provide premium educational opportunities to a diverse group of aspiring professionals, closing the gap between the classroom and the workforce. She believes that Fremont College is the ideal vehicle to make a meaningful impact on the higher education community and corporate America’s learning system.
Sabrina comes from a diverse and successful business and education background. She founded California Design College in 1992, the nation’s leading institution for computer-aided fashion design. It became one of the “BIG 4” fashion colleges in California, winning various awards. She is also the founder of Premier Business Bank, Fremont Private Investments, Fashion Umbrella, and LAdesigns. In doing so, she has remained at the forefront of educating and empowering others to achieve their full potential.
She currently serves as a Director of the Career College Association; Chairman of CCA Political Action Committee; and a member of YPO (Young Presidents’ Organization) Bel Air Chapter. Past affiliations include commissioner of the Los Angeles City Planning Commission; a director of the Golden State ScholarShare Program; Chairman of California Association for Private Postsecondary Schools; Chairman of Independent Coalition of Private Educators Political Action Committee; an Executive Committee member of USC Alumni Association Board of Governors; an accreditation evaluator for the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS); and a board member of KAC (Korean American Coalition).
As a philanthropist, she founded the Sabrina Kay Charitable Foundation. She also serves as chairman of After-School All-Stars Los Angeles (formerly Arnold’s All-Stars) and on the boards of the Getty House Foundation, the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment Commission and California Fashion Association. Other board positions included Imagine America Foundation, Weingart Center, and LA, Inc.
Her TV show, “Assimilating into America” ran for two years, her radio show for over eight, and she has contributed to various newspapers and magazines as a columnist for more than a decade. She taught Entrepreneurship programs at the Wharton School and UCLA Anderson School. She has also executive produced over 30 fashion shows internationally.
Sabrina’s achievements were recognized by numerous awards, including Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst and Young, Woman of the Year by the State of California Legislature and Rising Asian Woman by the World Affairs Council, among others.
Dr. Kay received her Doctorate degree in Work-Based Learning Leadership at the Wharton School and Graduate School of Education at University of Pennsylvania. She holds a MBA from USC, and Master of Science degree in Higher Education from University of Pennsylvania both with honors. She is a life member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. |
